Trick or Treat

Posted by Justin on October 31st, 2007

It’s Halloween night and much like last year I’m at work (no costume this time).  Work is the same too:  Wind Symphony concert in Henderson Auditorium with video game themed performance pieces.  Nothing to do later tonight… I’m too old to trick or treat.

Gadget Corner

Today’s gadget is the Eye-Fi. The Eye-Fi is a flash memory card with a Wi-Fi chip inside.  From Boing-Boing:

As long as you remain in range of your computer’s network, the Eye-Fi
will automatically transfer any image you snap to your computer, where
it can then be uploaded to the web manually or with the Eye-Fi
software. (And it would be simple to set up some automatic uploading
for instant uploads as soon as you take a snapshot if you wanted a
custom solution.)

$100 for a 2 GB card.  [Article] [Product Page]

Leopard and CS3

Posted by Justin on October 29th, 2007

Just in case you were thinking about upgrading to Leopard, but reluctant because you want to keep CS3 running smoothly, Adobe published a compatibility report this week.  (PDF here)

The Good News: Most applications run great.
The Bad News:  After Effects and Premiere have workflow issues. :(

Adobe expects to fix this problem in December.
CS2 people - Adobe says that you are “Likely to encounter issues for which there is no resolution.”

Sketchbook

Posted by Justin on October 29th, 2007

Today I debut the 313tech Sketchbook. I will (hopefully) update these pages regularly with a random design. Some will be pretty, some won’t. It’s all about practice and helping myself become a better designer.
I’ve already uploaded a few pieces from this summer along with some current work. Check out today’s piece, “Rock,” in the Sketchbook.
Navigation is simple. Just click the image to advance pages. Most current work will be displayed first.
